Before you ride.

Quick answers for new riders, race families, spectators and anyone planning a visit to Hugo’s Raceway.

Kids can start very young. Balance-bike/Strider riders can participate before they are ready for pedal bikes, and BMX racing has age and skill classes for riders as they progress.
No. Hugo’s Raceway has loaner bikes and helmets available for new riders, subject to availability. That makes it possible to try BMX before investing in race equipment.
Yes. USA BMX offers a one-day trial option for new riders. Visit the New Riders page for the current getting-started process.
Closed-toe shoes are required. Long pants and long sleeves are recommended for riding. Riders also need a helmet; a full-face helmet is strongly recommended for BMX racing.
Current local fees are $11 for Class, $9 for Cruiser, $7 for practice, and a $3 timing add-on when offered. Special-event pricing may be different.
The schedule changes throughout the season. Use the Schedule page for current Hugo’s Raceway dates and the link to the official USA BMX Red River BMX event calendar.
BMX racing is weather dependent. Rain, storms or a wet racing surface may delay or cancel track activity. Check Hugo’s Raceway updates before traveling when the weather is questionable.
Yes. Families, friends and community members are welcome to watch racing. Major events may have separate parking, admission or spectator information.

The BMX track is approximately 1,225 feet long and features four paved corners and a limestone-glued racing surface.
Yes. Birthday parties start at $150 for two hours and include up to 10 kids. Additional children are $10 each after the first 10. You can submit a booking request directly from the Birthday Parties page.
