Beginner Basics

What new riders should know.

A few simple things will make your first BMX experience much easier.

Wear long sleeves and long pants

Riders should come dressed for the track. Closed-toe athletic shoes are also recommended.

Helmets are required

A proper helmet is required whenever you are riding. Loaner helmets are available for beginners.

Arrive early

Give yourself time to check in, get a bike and helmet fitted, walk around the facility and ask questions before the track gets busy.

You race riders like you

BMX racing is organized by age and skill level, helping beginners compete with riders of similar experience.

You do not have to be fast on day one

The first goal is learning how to safely ride the track. Speed and race skills develop with practice.

Parents can ask questions anytime

If you are unsure about registration, equipment, membership or race procedures, our volunteers can walk you through it.

Practice before racing

If your rider is nervous about jumping into a race night, a practice session is a great way to learn the track first.

BMX is a family sport

Families spend race nights together, riders make friends and everyone becomes part of the local BMX community.

Start Small. Build Confidence.

Every racer started as a beginner.

Your first visit is about having fun, learning the track and seeing what BMX feels like.
